dc: blue skies & cocktails

Happy Wednesday! Hope you're surviving the week :)

So along with fashion posts, I am going to be posting photos and fun stuff from trips I take. We took a two-day trip to DC last weekend. It was my third time there, and it was great! Here's a few pics from the weekend.

1. Some cheese from Cork Market. Nothing beats cheese, bread, and pate for dinner!

2. Beautiful weather for the drive there. Sunny, warm and perfect.

3. The Gibson's cocktail menu. The Gibson is a speakeasy-style bar located in the U Street corridor of DC. Just knock on an unmarked black door and you'll be led into a dimly lit room for some SUBLIME cocktails! I got the R.I. Skyway, if you can read the very dark menu. Mmmm Campari...

4. Had to stop and get some snacks on the way up. I picked up a Sweet Leaf tea at the gas station--I'm so glad I did! Just barely sweet with a refreshing spearmint flavor, it was the perfect relaxing drink for a long drive.

1. Can't live without my iced nonfat green tea lattes!

2. American flag constructed from mirrors in the Museum of American History.

3. Champagne cocktails! Instructions: 1. Soak one sugar cube (or sugar packet if you're in a hotel room) in bitters. 2. Pour cognac over the cube and then remove it. 3. Top off with champagne. 4. Get awkwardly drunk because you have two and didn't realize that liquor + bubbles goes straight to your head. Whatever.

4. Our lovely, comfy hotel bed. Nice sheets + House Hunters International.

A glimpse of the Washington Monument in the early morning on the first day.

We got tired after shopping and stopped for lunch at a place called Busboys and Poets. Busboys is a U Street cafe serving delicious food using local ingredients. We stopped in after shopping for a bit. The panini with brie, baby spinach, and caramelized onions and the lamb burger were just what we needed to fuel up for a night out! Should have gotten a picture, but you know how hungry shopping can make you...

It was a great trip overall and we found a lot of very cool places. I can't wait to go back!

Do you have any favorite places in DC?
